Oliver "Ollie" Bandong is a Filipino non-binary person in their last semester at Appalachian State University. They’re majoring in gender studies and spend a lot of their time involved with the LGBTQ+ Center on campus. Last February, they created a Queer POC group on campus. As for art, they began crocheting in 2018. Since then, crochet has bounced back and forth between a hobby and side hustle. In 2020, they raised over $1000 for their brother’s top surgery. This past summer, they sold their art at their local farmers market and with an entrepreneurial student-run club on campus (Student-Made).

Oviya always chased perfection but found out that imperfections can actually become the best parts of art. It can be hard to let go, but now they try to rather focus on the message of their art and the feelings it may create in a viewer. That's why they redirect the focus of their work to taking the audience through new perspectives and different worlds; the very reason why they became passionate about art in the first place.

Penelli Yang (she/her)

​Penelli Yang is a student at NC State University studying art and human biology. Many of her digital artworks are inspired by her Hmong heritage, and she hopes to spread feelings of comfort and positivity through her colorful illustrations. She also creates jewelry from polymer clay and miniature origami. Her hand-sculpted polymer clay charms are inspired by nature, as well as the hand-drawn patterns on her origami paper.

Phillip Chu (he/him)

Phillip is a new resident of the Raleigh-Durham area but is excited to be here! Originally from Memphis, TN, Phillip is an engineer during the day and is a musician/soup-enjoyer by evening. During his free time you will find him picking out books that he will never read, admiring public transit in other countries, and searching for the best burger in town (recommendations appreciated). He hopes to record and release a collection of original songs later this year. He is inspired by his parents, who've faithfully supported him over the years in all of his artistic pursuits.

Reese Nguyen (she/they)

Theresa “Reese” Nguyen is a first-generation Vietnamese American from Pinehurst, North Carolina. She is a senior at Queens University of Charlotte double majoring in Mathematics and Studio Art and minoring in Professional Writing and Rhetoric. She likes exploring the duality of the analytical and the creative. They have different medium interests and skills including ceramics, woodblock printmaking, and painting. She always wants to learn new things and become a jack of all trades. They create art that is inspired by their culture and diverse interests. She is working on their senior capstone contemplating the duality of their cultural identity.

Sachi Dely (She/They)

Sachi is a 24 year old mixed media artist based in Greensboro, North Carolina. She attained her bachelors degree in fine arts at Guilford College. She is currently working as a full time artist and part time art teacher for the Creative Aging Network NC. Her work is inspired by her culture, experience as a refugee, and identity as an Indigenous woman.

Sanzari Aranyak (They/Them)

Sanzari Aranyak (they/them) is a disabled trans Desi artist and community organizer doing their best to not burn out. They are currently focused on disrupting urgency culture by resting, reading romance novels, and spending time with their friends. Sanzari creates digital collages and oil pastel pieces using found media, bright color palettes, and bold drawings. Sarahlaine Calva (She/Her)

Sarahlaine is a first-generation Filipino-American, self-taught multi-disciplinary artist based in Raleigh, NC. She is always activating public spaces for clients, as well as creating her own non-mural pieces.
She has contributed to events for Complexcon, UHill Walls Mural festival, and Duke University; as well as created artwork for brands such as FILA, PBR, Red Bull and etc. She was appointed by former NBA Star Grant Hill to create a basketball court mural for FILA; which was awarded for the “Great Places in NC award 2019.” And just recently, has painted Knightdale, NC’s first official mural.

Sho Hernandez (He/Him)

Sho is a half Japanese and half Mexican art and design sophomore from NC State University. Sho is a human who attempts to enjoy the present and find optimism in things. He finds art to be more than what it seems. To understand all of what art is able to give. Sho makes art for himself despite design and such being a people oriented subject. However, he hopes to inspire others through his selfish works. Sho makes art that is random and from his thoughts. He tries to not restrict his creativity from outside sources.

sinθ (Sine Theta) is an international print creative arts magazine that connects and empowers members of the Sino diaspora like ourselves. We take submissions of visual art and literature and feature interviews with established and rising creators alike. Our mission is to create a platform that highlights the concept of diaspora as one that challenges traditional conceptions of borders while celebrating the creative voices and works of talented Sino visual artists and writers.

Stella Park (She/Her)

Stella is a 3rd-year Art+Design major with a concentration in game design. She has a foundation in traditional art and digital illustration and has recently been working with 3D modeling, 3D sculpting, augmented reality, and virtual reality. For class, she is focusing on game environment design and for fun, she enjoys digital and traditional illustration.

Tuesday Pil is currently a student at North Carolina State University pursuing a B.A. in English Creative Writing. Originally from the Philippines, she writes primarily Filipino-American inspired stories, and is currently working on a middle grade fantasy novel inspired by her culture. When she is not writing, she is reading, eating mangoes, or playing Dungeons & Dragons. She has previously been published in Windhover Literary and Arts Magazine, Atlantis Creative Magazine, and other places.
